57th Annual Home Tour
Donna K. Tope/Cambridge Estates
1016 and 1002 Baldwin/1614 Cambridge Road

Cambridge Estates

From the Hill Street intersection, drive south on Washtenaw, turn right on the first
street, Baldwin Avenue. Baldwin and Cambridge border the triangular Douglas Park.
The first intersection is Baldwin and Cambridge.
Parking is available on either street.

Cambridge Estates is an exciting new concept in homes. The new 'mini neighborhood' includes two attached townhomes on each of three sites in North Burns Park. In 2008. local architect, Lincoln Poley, and owner/City Club member, Donna K. Tope, created distinctively designed craftsmen-style homes with architectural elements found in the lovely homes nearby. These townhomes fit perfectly into the established, century-old neighborhood, yet are uniquely designed for 21st century living, with the expertise of Huron Contracting, LLC and Project Manager Frederick W. Buckman, Jr.

1016 Baldwin, as well as each site townhome, is about 2100 square feet with an open floor plan, hardwood floors, a gas fireplace, eat-in gourmet kitchen with granite counters, a great room, den/office, and 2 1/2 baths including the master bath. Three bedrooms include a vaulted ceiling master bedroom with bath, and a second floor laundry. A deck off the great room offers private outdoor space. The detached two car garage has access through the rear entry. Unique architectural features of 1016 Baldwin are an inviting front porch, oval windows, cedar shake trim and historic colors.

The townhomes at 1002 Baldwin and 1614 Cambridge are the same size with similar living spaces, but differ from 1016 Baldwin in that they each have the two car garage below with a three floor stop elevator. Although unfinished inside, it is a must see.

Cambridge Estates is a family affair. For almost 30 years, Donna K. Tope and family lived at 1600 Cambridge near the town homes you are touring. When the fraternity next door moved closer to campus, Cambridge Development Group, LLC, was formed and they bought the property. Donna's daughter Melissa Richter, through Surovell Realtors, helped with the purchase. Son Rick Richter, Vice President of local Gold Star Financial Services, arranged financing. Daughter Christy Richter Buckman, her husband Fred Buckman, Jr., and her father-in-law Fred Buckman, Sr. are developing the project described at www.cdgcondos.com.
